Strength Based Approach.
The strengths-based approach focuses on an individual’s strengths. This is inclusive of personal, social and community networks. Implementing a strengths based approach provides a holistic and multidisciplinary approach whilst working with the individual and families to promote the clients wellbeing. At Strengthening Minds Therapy, we recognise that the individual is the expert of their situation.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT assists the individual to recognise and challenge unhelpful thoughts, beliefs and behaviours whilst assisting the individual to learn how to shift them. CBT focuses on the present and the future rather than the past.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
The aim of DBT is to assist the individual to understand and accept difficult feelings, learn skills to manage these feelings, and be able to make positive changes within their life. DBT is comprised of mindfulness, emotional regulation strategies and interpersonal skills. DBT assists the individual to learn coping skills and problems solving skills within a safe and supportive environment.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACTs aim is to assist an individual develop psychological skills to align more consistently with their own values. This is achieved through applying mindfulness and acceptance skills to uncontrollable experiences. Underpinning ACT is six core principles which include, psychological flexibility, defusion, acceptance, contact with the present moment, observing self-values and committed action. Through the implementation of ACT it assists in reducing anxiety, increases self-awareness around thoughts and feelings, as well as enhancing emotional regulation.
